Martin Puryear's Art

I've only seen Martin Puryear's art in a magazine and online. I think you'd have to see it in person to fully appreciate it. It's really different. The picture above is a recent work of his called C.F.A.O. It consists of an old wheelbarrow that carries a timber framework that's over 7ft. tall. Embedded face-first in the nest of wood is a replica of the underside of an African tribal mask. Puryear lately has gotten into using things "with a previous life in the world": wheels, tree trunks, wheelbarrows, etc.
