Great part of the Star Wars Saga--Luke finds out who is father is and learns more about the power of the dark side of the force, great banter (and romance) between Han and Leia, more battle between good and evil, and great wisdom from Yoda as he is training Luke, "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."What an awesome God we have! Not only does He give us forgiveness and salvation through Christ Jesus, but He also blesses us in so many different ways in our everyday lives. This blog is meant to celebrate various people, places, and things that enrich my life, bring me happiness, or make me smile. There will be a wide variety of things on here, and they are not listed in any order of importance. Some are simple pleasures; some go deeper than that. This is the stuff I dig!

The Empire Strikes Back
Great part of the Star Wars Saga--Luke finds out who is father is and learns more about the power of the dark side of the force, great banter (and romance) between Han and Leia, more battle between good and evil, and great wisdom from Yoda as he is training Luke, "Try not. Do or do not. There is no try."
This is my favorite of the Star Wars films. And, in my opinion, it's the best one. It introduces Yoda, plus sets up the final storyline. I'm reminded of the bit of dialog from "Clerks" (1994, dir. Kevin Smith):
ReplyDeleteRandal Graves: Which did you like better? "Jedi" or "The Empire Strikes Back"?
Dante Hicks: "Empire".
Randal Graves: Blasphemy.
Dante Hicks: "Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All "Jedi" had was a bunch of Muppets.
I like Return of the Jedi the best. The Ewoks are great! But I will be posting about that. Empire is excellent though.
ReplyDeleteLet me add 1 thing, which is a blemish on "Empire." It also introduces the character of Boba Fett, the most overrated Star Wars character. I have no idea how Boba Fett got the cultlike following that he did, but here we are.
ReplyDeleteThe question then becomes, which "Jedi" is the better one: the original ending or the new ending?
BTW, I was an Ewok for Halloween one year. It was cute. Speaking of cute; Baby Ewoks!
